Botox®

BOTOX belongs to a class of drugs called neuromodulators which cause the injected muscle to relax. In addition to softening wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions, it’s effective at treating concerns caused by muscle activity, including overactive bladder and migraine headaches. BOTOX is FDA-approved, and its active ingredient has been used in medicine for decades.

What can Botox be used for?

Upper Face

Safe and reliable, BOTOX is most commonly used to soften crow’s feet, vertical frown lines between the eyebrows, and horizontal furrows of the forehead. Additionally, some evidence has shown that regular use of BOTOX can even prevent the development of these facial lines. BOTOX can also be used to create a gentle, pleasing elevation of the brow.

Lower Face

BOTOX can enlarge the upper lip and decrease fine lines around the mouth. BOTOX can also be used as an alternative to jaw surgery by reducing the prominence of the masseter muscles, resulting in a slimmer jawline.

What are the benefits of Botox?

Receiving a Botox treatment offers a variety of benefits - not just aesthetically! Here are some of the benefits of Botox injections:

  • Anti-Aging effect to look younger. As Botox freezes the muscles beneath the skin, over time it reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines in wrinkle-prone areas like crows feet, elevens, marionette lines, and more
  • Migraine and headache prevention
  • Prevents Wrinkles
  • Helps your skin build collagen

What are the side effects of Botox?

While the procedure is relatively simple and tends to have minimal pain, some common side effects of Botox may include:

  • Pain
  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Tenderness
  • Redness

What is the procedure, recovery, and results like?

The entire appointment is relatively brief—usually under 30 minutes. You can plan to return to your usual daily activities immediately afterward. However, localized side effects can include redness, swelling, tenderness, and itching at the injection sites. These typically resolve on their own within a few days, and visible side effects can be covered with makeup.

Unlike fillers, the results of treatment with BOTOX do not appear instantly. Instead, you can expect to see your results gradually appear within 5 to 7 days as the active ingredient takes effect. Results from BOTOX injections typically last 3 to 4 months, but studies show that, over time, regular treatments will produce longer-lasting results.
